HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
Course focus:
The ultimate purpose of this training is to ensure that you have the skills and knowledge required to respond to an emergency situation in an Education or Care Setting i.e. Child Care / Schools. This course includes CPR and competent completion of this course will entitle you to a Statement of Attainment for the units of competency:
HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting and HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Topics covered in Workshop include:
CPR – Baby / Child / Adult, use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), Managing unconsciousness, Choking, Asthma Management, Anaphylaxis Management, Bandaging, Patient Assessment, Duty of Care, Documentation, Reporting, Cultural awareness, etc.

What to wear on the day & special considerations:
You need to wear appropriate clothing as you will be required to kneel on the floor to perform practical tasks (e.g. the CPR component). If you have a disability or any health concern that may impede your ability to perform the practical components of the course, please talk to our Admin prior to enrolment.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are unable to perform the adult & child CPR practical by kneeling on the floor you will not be able to receive a Statement of Attainment. However, you can be issued a Letter of Attendance if you can only perform the CPR practical on a table or if you are unable to perform the practical component at all.
Delivery and assessment:
This course is a very practical program that involves a 2.5-3-hour face-to-face workshop (depending on group size) and completion of a self-paced online theory training, which takes approximately 3-5 hours.
